First stop on the itinerary, Vatican City.

When landing in FCO, we took a taxi to our AirB&B right outside of Vatican City. The taxi fares are fixed (48€) going to and from Rome from the airport, which is nice if you hit traffic.

Places we stopped at:

  • Basilica San Piedro

  • Castel Sant Angelo

  • Piazza del Tribunali

  • Piazza Navona

  • Ponte Sant Angelo

It was extremely hot while we were walking around town, we had to take breaks every 10 minutes to sit in the shade.

I would definitely recommend seeing the Basilica San Piedro, as it is the main attraction of Vatican City. It was very clean and not too many people harassing you to all different types of tours.

Other places to see while you are there:

  • Parco Adriano

  • Gardens of Vatican City

  • Eagle Fountain

Overall, Vatican City was just alright. Nothing really stood out to me. We saw some cool things, but really don't have any desire to go back anytime soon.

On to the next stop - Cinque Terre!
